Objective

AIM Health is a research lab affiliated with the University of Washington Psychology.

Our objective over at AIM Health is to create mental health products for various mental health needs.

I initially joined when there was only one product- Turning to Sunshine, a mental health resource for people, particularly for the MSM (men who have sex with men) community, who have recently been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in China. This resource is available on WeChat as a mini program.

Now we have 3 new products in the making. Stay tuned!

Note Taking Feature

Background & Objective

After conducting user testing on our version 1.0 for Turning to Sunshine, we received feedback that the testers would like a way to organize their medication usage and keep track of important information- like medicine side effects.

The purpose of the note taking feature is to give users a space to jot down any information about their medicine. It also includes a time recording feature where users can record the time they took their medicine for future reference.

Challenges

Due to the limitations of the development team, there was a very specific way to implement the time recording feature. Working very closely with the development lead, we were able to create a feasible and easy-to-use UI.

There are a lot of design elements to account for, so it was challenging to create a design that wasn't busy and overwhelming to the user.

Solution

To address the concerns of overwhelming the user we introduced a bottom sheet over a black overlay. This way the user can focus on their notes and not be overwhelmed with everything else on the screen. This is also within the dev team feasibility.

Medication Tracking Confetti

Background & Objective

One of our main features is tracking the user's usage of medication.- users can fill in whether or not they have taken their medicine for the day.

We decided to include a confetti animation if they have taken their medicine for the day in order to enforce a sense of accomplishment for the user.

Social Media Posts

Background & Objective

For a new AI-based product, we needed to recruit users for user research. I created these flyers on Figma.

I was inspired by the aesthetic of the branding of our lab with its use of pastel gradients. I also incorporated a graphic from our first product to really bring home the consistent branding and to catch user's eyes.

Challenges

A challenge I faced with creating the poster was including all the information in a way that was engaging but wasn't too busy. Since we're recruiting users for initial research, it's important they read every bit of information.

I utilized modern graphic design trends, such as iconography, and an inclusive color theme to catch the reader's attention, while also breaking information into condensed chunks in a meaningful format to make information easy to understand.

Other Designs

Here are some other designs that the team had liked but chosen not to go forward with. For these flyers, both Figma and Adobe Illustrator were used.

Logos

Background & Objective

AIM Health was creating a new AI product and I tasked in making the new logo. The inspiration behind the logo was the aesthetics of the first product- which includes a purple and coral color scheme and linear gradients, along with its name "Turning to Sunshine", and the name of new product "Glow AI". The two crescents represents different stages of the day- the left one is dawn while the right one is dusk. The center represents the sun.

Here’s the new logo, created using Adobe Illustrator and Figma:

Other Designs

These were other prospective logo designs that were created on Adobe Illustrator.
The team voted on the above logo because they found it more aesthetically pleasing.
